"I have in my possession an original sheepskin deed dated May 28, 1802
where Presley Neville Esquire, son of General Neville, purchased
certain tracts of land from Wm. Beard, Joseph Beard, and Charles McGowan for
the sum of 1,850 pounds. At this time the land was in Allegheny C0.
however part of the land is now Peters Twp. in Washington Co. I thought this
might be of some interest . I also have a letter from Neville dated
September 15, 1808 before a JP that he had title papers to certain
lands from David Fleming to John Campbell which had been lost. Neville
swore that John Campbell had been in full possession of this land except
when driven off by Indians."
