Pennsylvania Land Patent List for
North Strabane Twp.

This transcription was done by Jean Suplick Matuson of Plano, Texas in December 1998.
The source used were "diazo blue" maps obtained from the Pennsylvania Historical and
Museum Collection, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1991.

These maps document transfers of land from the possession of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania to individual citizens. Refer to our Land Records page for background
information on the process that was used.

Some transcription notes:
I changed the date format from "month day, year" to "day month year". Months were
given on the map in the modern 3-letter abbreviations except for June and July. I also
spelled out the following abbreviations:

	As - acres
	Ps - perches
	War. - Warrant
	Pat. - Patented
	Sur. - Surveyed
	All. - Allowances
	Virga. - Virginia
	Certifc. - Certificate

Finally, I alphabetized the plot owners by last name.

Footnote

In the most part of the township, the map shows two plats superimposed on each other. The first plat includes Robert Harrison (Order No. 548, 273 acres), Paul Fooks (Order No. 1916, 288 acres), David Evans (Order No. 1969, 201 acres), and William Preston (Order No. 517, 374 acres). Each of these names appears as a separate entry above. This collective land was patented to a different set of people, constituting the second plat. The boundaries of the new patents extend across the boundaries of various original plots in a different configuration. Back to Washington Co., PA Genealogy Copyright © 1998 Jean Suplick Matuson.
