James Cleland Sr came to Buffalo Township about 1802. In 
      that year "of East Nottingham Hundred, Cecil County, Maryland" he 
      purchased a farm just north of Jacob Wolf (Deed Book R, 117). The 
      1790 census lists in East Nottingham a James Cleland with 3 males 
      over 16, 6 under 16, and 5 females. James Sr was born in 1753 and 
      died Nov 3-1830. He married Elizabeth --- b 1754 d Apr 5-1838.
