Washington County, Pennsylvania
   The family likely originated in Feldkirchen, Rheinland-Pfalz. JOHN Trimmer was in Amwell (now Readington) Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey before 1730. he was naturalized November 12-1744. His will was probated February 22-1750. About 1721 he married Mary ---, about 1738 Elsie Engel, about 1748 Cathearine ?Cobine. His children were: Matthias, ANTHONY, Andrew, George, Herbert, Anna, Christine, William, John, Nicholas, Judith (Dufford), Henry.
   ANTHONY Trimmer, b c1724 d 1754 (will probated December 24) was a weaver. He lived in Longhollow, now Washington Township, Morris County, New Jersey. About 1749 he married Elizabeth --- 1723-1781. Her second husband was Thomas Faircloe. Anthony had 3 children: PAUL, Mary (Swayze), Anthony 1754-1838.
   PAUL Trimmer, grandson of John, was born 1750. He went to Fermanagh Township, now Juniata County, Pennsylvania, about 1775. Here in 1780 he married Jane (daughter of Moses) McElwain. Paul served in the militia in 1778 under Captain James McConnell, in 1780 under Captain Hugh McAllister. In 1784 he moved over the mountain to what is now West Beaver Township, Snyder County. About 1800 he moved to Smith Township, Washington County. He died about 1834 at the home of his son, Samuel, in Robinson Township. Children:
