Subject: DeBrular information Date: 24 Jun 1997 Name: John DeBrular E-Mail: kartracer2@juno.com Text of Message: Family history says that my GGGrandfather, QUILLIAN DEBRULAR, came to this country sometime in the late 1800's. He settled somewhere in Washington County, PA. He married Rebecca Marquis (daughter of Thomas Marquis) and they had several children. The only offspring that we have any knowledge of is their youngest John Morgan DeBrular (born 1843). Some time between 1844 & 1859 Rebecca, her father (Thomas) and John Morgan moved to a small community near Toll Gate, WV. In 1860 John Morgan joined the Union Army in Brooke County,WV. He was assigned to Company "D" that was assigned to guarding the railroad. We have no information about Quillian but it is believed that he is buried somewhere near Bedford, PA. Thomas passed away in 1868 and rebecca in 1880. Both are buried in this area. QUESTION --- why would he travel several miles out of his way to join the Union Army when this could be done less that 50 miles away ?? Please reply if you have ideas or information.
