The CLP sort of stradles the the Univ. of Pgh. and Carnegie Mellon Univ. campuses. I was at a computer conference in Pittsbugh las December and I had a car. It took me all of 10-15 minutes to get from my hotel right downtown to the CLP. They have garage parking at the library.
For hotels, why don't you check the GTE yellow pages on-line at www.superpages.com. You can search for "hotels" in "Pittsburgh". You can also use Mapquest at www.mapquest.com to get a fix on exact street locations, etc.
Good luck and have a great time! If you're really keen to look at Washington Co. resources, make the time to go Citizens library. In my opinion it has a much, much better local collection. The genealogy section is in a separate area outside the general stacks, so ask at the desk.
