I've just obtained a copy of Crumrine's 1882 history of Washington Co.
He has John Marshall, lieutenant-colonel and Peter Kidd, Major, heading
up the 3rd Batallion (not the 4th) of the Washington Militia. He
gives the date of his information as 1784, so perhaps Peter Kidd was with
the 4th sometime before.
Unfortunately, there is no clue in the book (that I've found so far)
as to what 3rd (or the 4th batallion) did.
