I think maybe there was. I've been meaning to seriously research that
very question in the history books, but haven't gotten around to it.
Anectdotally, at least two branches of my Washington Co. ancestors moved
into Ohio about 1810-1820 (to Trumbull and Cambridge Cos.) I think this was just a continuation of
the westward migration. One way to substantiate this theory would be to
find out when the governing bodies in Ohio opened up land for purchase.
That would have been the impetus for a migration.

Also, I have this theory that the second generation of Washington Co. pioneers
probably heard enough tails of their parents travels and travails to set the kids
thinking about doing the same.
