What a wonderful genealogical year 1996 was! It saw the birth
and impressive growth of the USGenWeb Project. I hope all who
read this met with some success in your genealogical searches, and
I especially hope that USGenWeb played a role, however large or small
that was.

When you think about you 1997 plans for your genealogical research,
be sure to consider publishing a bit of it. So much good genealogical work
gets lost through the ages because it is never preserved for the future.

Start small with an article: a project the size of an entire book may never
come to fruition. But a two page article can bring so much satisfaction and
at the same time contribute knowledge for future generations.
Don't let the idea intimidate you, either. If you post your specific
questions as a follow-up here, I'm sure you'll get some ideas and answers.
