1. Sampson1 Robinson died August 11, 1864 in Hatchers Farm, Virginia. He married Nancy Duvall, daughter of David Duvall and Mary Bailey.
Notes
According to the 1890 Census, Nancy did file at some point for a pension because her husband died during his time in the service of his country.
Not much has been found about Samson Robison a resident of Washington County. The high light was finding that he fought in the War of Southern Independence. For some reason he traveled to Ohio and enlisted in the Company I, 62nd Ohio Infantry. He enlisted as a private October 22, 1862 for three years.1 He was absent, sick in hospital at Beaufort, South Carolina September 18, 1862. He died August 11, 1864 at Hatcher’s Farm, Virginia. When he did enlist into the Army, he was 40 years old and liveing in Washington County Pennsylvania.
The 62nd Ohio was one of the units that fought along side the 54th Mass. at the battle of Fort Wagner. This is the same Fort Wagner that was assaulted in the born movie “Glory."

According to the 1900 census, Austin Robert Ward had a (servant) living on the farm. This (Servant) could speak no English. Nor could he read or write. The (Servant) name was John Bearkheart. He was born in March of 1836 in Pennsylvania.
Austin Robinson Ward and family lived on a farm in Denbo, Centerville Township. According to the census, many the people living around his farm worked on the locks or were farmers.
It stated in Austin's will that he left a one story frame dwelling in on 2 lots in "South Brownsville" of Fayette County, Pennsylvania which was valued at $1,500. In Luzerne Township, he owned a vacant tract valued at $25.00. His farm in Denbo,
Washington County Pennsylvania had 100 acres, one, 2 story dwelling, a barn and other out buildings. The farm was valued at $4,000.
Laura Bell Ward (Pepper) who was born November 19, 1867, Washington County, Pennsylvania. She is a daughter of William Pepper(s). She died September
20, 19632 in Centerville Township Washington County, Pennsylvania.
She was 23 when she was married and was living in East Bethlehem.
From her husband, she was given 2 mortgages. The first was of C. J. Williams that was dated February 27, 1927 in the amount of $1,500.00. This mortgage can be found in Mortgage Book 207, Page 189. At the time of her husbands death, there was a balance of $1,500 due.
The second was of Ollie M Deems and M. Lucretia Deems. It was dated October 1 1928 in the amount of $3,500. This one can be found in Mortgage Book 221, Page 385.

There is one story that was told me about my grandfather John Thomas Ward Sr. It seems that he made moon shine and sold it to the foreigners that lived around the farm. This semi makes sense to me.
When I was much younger, I spent a weekend with my grandparents on their farm in Centerville. One day my grandfather told me how to make moonshine. He then told me how to make a still. At the time, I did not understand how he would know how to make a still. After I found out that he at one time made moonshine, the story he told made a lot of sense.
John Thomas Ward Sr. was a coal miner for 10 years, he was also a farmer. His wife stated that he had a still and made moonshine. This moonshine he made, he sold to the emigrants that lived around him. He worked as a maintenance man at Brownsville Hospital from 1965 -- 1975.
When his father died, he and his brother Robert A. Ward was given real estate situated in Denbo, Centerville Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. This Property is listed in Deed book 336, Page 37. This farm in Denbo had 100 acres, one, 2 story dwelling, a barn and other out buildings. The farm was valued at $4,000.

He was in the US Army and was sent to Korea. He spent 48 days fighting at Heartbreak Ridge and he also landed at Inchon. When he was 15 years old, the Brooklyn Dodgers came and wanted him to play ball for them. His father would not let him. Patty stated that when he played softball, teams would call her and wanted her to talk him into playing ball for their team.
His life’s work is that of a steelworker (Hunky Steel Worker). One talent he has is that of a gardener. His thumb is definitely Green.

He is a veteran of the US Army and was drafted. This was done on April 25, 1956. His induction was postponed on May 14, 1958. It was postponed until fist call after the completion of his teaching schedule. He left for the Army on June 16, 1958. In
September he went to Fort Caffee Ark. for an 8 week course in administration. After this school he was sent to the 249th General Hospital that was attached to Fitzsimons Army Hospital. He was hired as a teacher on 4 September 1957. He became an Elementary school principal at Gill Hall school in 1965.
His education is as follows; BS '57 California University, M.Ed. ‘64 Duquesne University, and a Ph.D. '75 from the University of Pittsburgh.
