I am looking for relatives of my g-g-grandfather, Francis McBride, whom I belive to have been from Robinson Twp., Wash. Co., PA, but have not proven. He married Rachel Andrews of Smith Twp. in the 1840's or '50's and purchased a land claim in Ashland County, Ohio around 1850, where they lived until their deaths. Francis was born in August 1825, but all previous history that I have found contains no family information for him. I would greatly appreciate any info that someone may have.

1782-1784 Thomas Sinnard in family section of tax list Fallowfield Township,Washington County.
About 1790 Thomas Sinnard, Jacob Jones and his daughter Alice Jones and John Lewis also Sarah Griffin went from Washington County to Hopewell, Paris,Bourbon County Kentucky.

My HODGENS line "settled" Alabama in the mid-19th Century.
They arrived via Georgia, South Carolina and, allegedly (I
haven't been able to prove this, so far) Pennsylvania from
an ancestor (John B. HODGENS) b. in England. Oral history
had it that it was actually Wales.

Seeking all Stewarts from sw PA, (W)Va, and OH.
I have a James STEWART who m. the widow Mary (GLASS) BECKETT, probably in Westmoreland Co., PA, when some still thought of it as Augusta Co., VA. James and Mary later (1790) bought a farm in Ohio Co., VA, which turned out (after the state lines were surveyed) to be also in Washington Co., PA (sound familiar?); they built a stone house (now a historical site) on Gillespie's Run of the Middle Wheeling Creek, between Dallas and the PA state line. Mary was still alive (I think) in 1810 but they were both deceased by 1830, although their graves have never been located. [This is NOT the James d.1829 who m. Elizabeth, both buried in the Three Ridges Presbyterian in West Alexander!] James and his wife Mary had at least three daughters who m. HANNA, CRAIG and COE, and at least one son, DAVID, who m. Janes BYERS; she was descended from SHANNON, WHITE, REED, HAIR, VAN VOORHIS, et al., all longtime Washington Co. families. David was a founding elder of the Dallas Presbyterian Church; he and Jean are both buried in that cemetery in WVa.
The reason I am seeking all Stewarts and their collateral lines is: there are at least 15 James in the area at this time (1800-30, all with brothers and sons named James, William, Robert, etc.); at least three have wives named Mary and at least two of these also have sons named James Jr. You can see the predicament. And almost all of these felt that a handshake was legally binding and thus died intestate, wouldn't you know. The only way I can see to sort them out is to cooperate with all Stewart "cousins" with ancestors in the area. This is now a 20-25 year odyssey and, although I have collected data on some 20,000 Stewarts in the region, I am no closer to my ancestor's (James) roots than I was in the mid-1970s (well, a little, perhaps: I often know who he's NOT!).
During the course of this search I have resorted to editing a free 'ezine (since 1993), the Stewart Clan Newsletter (SCN) dedicated to Stewart/Stuart surname research anywhere. I would LOVE to hear from anyone even remotely connected to these lines.

I am looking for any information on Thomas Brewer Asbury. He was born in Washington Co. circa 1850. He studied medicine and was granted the MD degree circa 1875. I am not certain of the University which granted the degree. He did migrate to Franklin Co. Ohio around 1875 and married Ann Wells of Dublin OH. Dr Asbury's father was named Thomas and he immigrated from England.

I am looking for information on WILLIAM CARROLL and MARY LYNN (CARROLL).
WILLIAM CARROLL was born in Ireland and immigrated to the USA when he was
about 20 years old. MARY LYNN was born in Ireland and immigrated to the USA
when she was about 10 years old. The most unusual fact about William was that he
became a Presbyterian at the age of 40. Prior to that time he had been a Roman
Catholic.
In his grandson's obituary it states that WILLIAM CARROLL was cousin to Charles
Carroll of Carrollton. I have also found records that indicate that William and Mary
Carroll were one of the first settlers in the area (not specified where in PA).
William and Mary had 12 children. I know of only one: DANIEL LYNN CARROLL.
DANIEL LYNN CARROLL was born in Fayette County, PA in 1797. No other information about township.
Daniel became a Presbyterian clergyman after attending Jefferson College and Princeton
Theological Seminary. He also taught for 1 1/2 years and was a superintendent in an
iron foundry prior to his formal education. Daniel married ANNA TURK HASLTED in 1824.
I have significant family information from Daniel to the present. I am looking for information
about William and Mary which would give me information about their places of birth
and the other 11 children. I suspect that William and Mary may have had a farm in
Washington, PA as I have notes written by ANNA TURK HALSTED CARROLL from Washington
city.

We are searching for information about the family of William Frye(m. Rachel Spears) who , at oone time, had a warrant for land in Carroll Township in Washington County(1769) He gave his warrant to his brother, Abraham. Later, he lived in Fayette Co. Ky. with his family on land he received for Revolutionary War service We do not know if he served in a military unit from Pennsylvania or in a unit from Virginia. One of his sons was named Joseph Viedte Frye. No one knows the origin of this name. We are wondering if the name "Viedte" originated with som Washington County connection. My great-great grandmother was Jane WHITE. Jane was the daughter of George and Elizabeth WHITE of Strabene Twp. Jane had a son Allen WHITE. Sometime after the death of her parents, Jane became the wife of Daniel BERRY. I think she was the second wife. Both Jane and Allen were mentioned in Daniel's will along with some of his other children. As Jane and Daniel did not have children of their own. these children must have been from a previous marriage.

I am looking for information on John and Joseph HENRY. My great-great grandmother was Elizabeth HENRY WHITE. She was married to Allen WHITE, great grandson of John and Mary Ann (PATTERSON?) WHITE. Elizabeth died when a fourth baby was born on either January 6, or 24, 1851. She was 42 years, 5 months and 11 days old when she died. The Orphan's Court lists her as the daughter of John HENRY, wife of Allen WHITE and the mother of Mary Jane WHITE, William Henry WHITE and Elizabeth WHITE. It also mentions Joseph HENRY.
When Elizabeth died her daughter Elizabeth (Lizzie) was the smallest and I think some of the HENRY family may have raised her. I am searching for her and would also like information on the HENRY family.
Elizabeth and Allen lived near Hickory, PA but also had close family ties in the Canonsbury, Strabeneand Chartiers Twp. areas so the HENRYs may have lived in these areas.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I am searching for information on Gabriel Rodgers. Born in May of 1862 in Wales, he moved to England and married in 1881, wife's name was Anna. They emigrated to America in 1894 and settled in Gastonville. Gabriel worked as a blacksmith in the coal mines. While I have seen some links to a David Rizor and Martha Wilson, the birthdates differ on each I have seen (by many years).
