In 1795, William Kerr purchased land in Washington County on "Chartie Creek" from Robert and Kezia Miller. A record of this transaction was found among the papers my great great grandfather, S.D. Kerr. I believe William Kerr to be a relative, but this is yet unproven. Also, in these papers, there is a document which is a discharge notice for Joseph Kerr who had served in a rifle company of the Pennsylvania Militia signed by James Miller, Captain, 22 Mar 1813. Joseph is believed to be the son of William. He later moved to Knox County Ohio. If anyone is familiar with this Kerr family, please contact me.

Does anyone have information on ROBERT AKIN (1770 - 1850) who, according to the "Annals of the Robert Aiken Family" came to the "Forks of the Yough" - present day McKeesport. He married a JANE MCMEANS and later resettled in present day Lawrence Co. PA. I am trying to discover his parents and siblings (of which there were two brothers and two sisters). Am looking for information on the William Nathan Barnes family, supposedly Penna-Dutch, from Washington County. William Nathan and wife, Sarah Lawson, had 10 children. All were born in Washington County. They are, with birth years in parenthesis: Elizabeth (1821), Agnes Nancy (1823), Catherine (1825), Nathan (1827-1832), William (1829), Hester (1831), Nathan L. (1833), Margaret Ann (1835), Robert Wallace (1836), James Harvey (1838). This family was here between those years, but later moved on to Pike County, Ill., sometime after the birth of James Harvey. I am looking for the maiden name of Susannah OWENS wife of John OWENS Jr. From article in "The Tenmile Country," John OWENS Jr. was killed by Indians in the Spring of 1781 near Waynesburg. His will is on file in Washington Co., and Orphans Court records later show Susannah as Susannah McMULLEN/McMILLEN. Susannah d. in childbirth 26 Jan 1790 Washington Co., and in her will, filed in Washington Co., she leaves the child to her sister Mary ____. Children of John and Susannah OWENS were: David, John, Vincent, George, Mary, James, and Sarah who had married Richard GRAGSTON. Any info on this family appreciated.
