Have been stumped on finding the parents of John S. Bell, my great grandfather. I know he was a farmer living in Carroll Twp., Washington County.
He was born in Elizabeth Twp., Allegheny County in 1831 and Married Nancy Ann Bailey, who was from E. Pike Run Twp., Wash. Cty.. So many Bell's to research and have been trying for years to locate any furthur back on this family branch. Help would be deeply appreciated. I have a lot more on the above surnames and others from the eastern Washington County area.

Mathew Rankin SMITH b. 1809, Washington Co., PA, son of William and Catherine SMITH. Have no info about the parents, but speculating that Catherine may have been daughter of Mathew Rankin of Mt. Pleasant Twp. in Washington Co., PA. Am told that William SMITH was a native of Wales and Catherine a native of Ireland. The 1820 census lists Mathew RANKIN and William SMITH living in Mt. Pleasant Twp. p. 175 & 176. Mathew Rankin SMITH m. Esther Ann CARTER in 1832, Muskingum Co., OH and then went to Delaware Co., IN where they raised 14 children. One of their children, Malinda Jane, m. William BURT, son of Joseph BURT of Washington Co., PA. Also, after Mathew SMITH's wife, Ester, died in 1865 WI, he married Catherine CLARK BOOHER. Wondering if she came from Washington Co., PA also?

I read your Query, but I was unable to email you. The cemetery you are looking for may
be near California University of Pennsylvania off Route 70. In an effort to find quicker
routes to school I passed a cemetery off of California Road (Exit13 RT 70). I don't
remember the church that was involved with the upkeep of the outdoor "Church" ; however,
there are several OLD markers and headstones. If you would like me to check for something
specific, I could go there. If I don't receive email from you, I won't do anything. I will only

Finally, with confidence I can post my gg-grandfathers family, if anyone has any ties or connections to this family, I would love to hear from you.
Peter Smith was born in Belgium abt. 1838, his wife Harriet was born in France about 1842, family spelled her maiden name as Dewerle, but as I can find no French surname like that it may be Dewar or something similar. Both families were said to have immigrated from Alsace-Lorraine.
According to the 1880 McKean Co., PA Census they lived on Hill St. in Bradford, PA, and Peters occupation was carpenter. Children were:
1. Charles, age 22 born in Canada
2. John, age 18, born in NY (Buffalo) on May 28, 1862
3. Emily, age 16, born in Canada
4. Julia, age 15, born in PA.
5. Neatty, age 11, born in PA.
6. Ida, age 9, born in PA.
7. Allice, age 7, born in PA.
8. Minna, age 4, born in PA.
In 1900 I found Peter and Harriet living in Buffalo Twp., Washington Co., PA with one son Peter Charles, age 17, born in PA. Their second son John is my g-grandfather and he lived at 144 Church St., Washington, PA.
John Henry Smith, according to family stories, met his wife Lydia Jane Holmes in Bradford, PA. She was the daughter of Seth Holmes and Sarah Dora Kenulley and was born Aug. 1, 1865, possibly in Lock Haven, PA.
The youngest son Peter Charles was said to have gone to Oklahoma. Sister Ida married a Hamme (pretty sure his name was Calvin), and moved to Detroit, Michigan, and sister, Minnie, married a Garlano and moved to Birch River,Manitoba,Canada.

The Krueske family came from Hanover, Germany. Most came to America
around 1820 to 1870.
The brother and his family, and I do not know his name, of my ggrandfather
Heinrich HOPP, stopped off in Washington County, PA or OH.
Heinrich's brother started a Grist Mill. I do not have any information
on Heinrich HOPP or his brother's family. Heinrich HOPP's wife and children
finally settled in California, Ohio. Anderson Township, Hamilton County, Ohio.
Any information on any of the above ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

William HARVEY b 5 Jun 1805 PA, m 14 Sep 1831 Belmont Co, OH to Rachel IRWIN b 21 Jan 1813 Lancaster Co, PA. I have reason to believe William is connected to HARVEY line in Washington Co, PA. Have proven Joseph HARVEY in Belmont Co, OH at the same time as William is a descendant of Washington Co, PA line, but have been unable to tie William to the same line. Family tradition says William had a fight with his brothers and never spoke to them again. This may be why I cannot find the connection.

Formed new church with 51 members in 1771
Joseph was a weaver by trade. Bought 63 acres
of land -later sold land to Bingaman family. Sons
are David ,Josiah, Joseph, and John. David
left Chester and formed his own church-Peters
Creek Baptist Church. Name may have changed
David Philips is buried in the cemetary at his
church. DAR memorial plaque on his grave. He
pastored for forty years and a son also was a
pastor there. I know this is in Library,PA and
have archive map of the area with many Philips
family homes on the map. This seems to be my

in Poland and their infant son Stephen b 1911 .. They had 11 children during the
marriage. Louis died around 1925.
Around 1926 Catherine Pencek Malinky and Alexander Bozenski had a son, Alexander.

We are looking for the burial site of my great grandfather Frank Vaneman Donaldson, son of Thomas and Margaret McFarland Donaldson. His death was approximately December 24, 1944. He had two sons Joseph and Doyle. Doyle was my grandfather and he died at the age of 25 along with my grandmother. Frank raised my father Robert Louis and my uncle Joseph. When he died both Dad and Uncle Joe were in the armed forces and were never given any information as to his burial site other than Candor, Pa. where he was raised. At the time of his death his wife was Clara Neal Donaldson, however, my great grandmother was Elizabeth (Libbie) Beckett Donaldson daughter of Mr & Mrs J. W. Beckett.

Tony Joe Rahlick b 25 Aug 1882 Piklenik Poland, emigrated US 1902 (?port enty and ship) lived in Cecil Twp Washington county from Approx 1920 nto his death on 3 Feb 1974. Worked for the Henderson Coal company in Hendersonville until he contracted black lung.
married Mary Ann Panek b 2 Feb 1882 in Poland, her first husbands name Joseph Katulbeck, who she had four children with Andy, Joe, Tony and Mary. She died on 13 Sep 1945 in Hendersonville. She emigrated to US in 1902 with her brother Fredric Panek.
Tony Father was John and mother was Kate Malkusha both of poland and never emigrated as I know. I am trying to learn about these people. any information would be helpful, thanks Cecil

I would like to know how James Campbell died and where he is buried. I know he died between 31 March and 3 May 1784. Was he a Revolutionary Soldier? His widow,Lucy,had filed for property appraisment 3 May 1784.This was reported in Cecil Township 1784. In 1788,she reported that she had 2 children,William,born 1781 and Sarah,born 1784.A John Campbell handeled some of the Estate.Any information would be appreciated. I am trying to trace two James Gorrell's (father and son) who lived in Washington Co. in the late 1700's.
According to a family history that I just got a copy of James Gorrell, moved his family to Washington Co.,
after an Indian raid destroyed his land on the Susquehanna river (not sure of the time period, but I assume
it is in the 1770's or 1780's). James Gorrell (Sr) is listed in the 1790 census in Chartiers Township,
Washington Co. Sometime around 1790 James Gorrell (Jr) married Sarah Milholland (Looking for
marriage record). They lived near James' father for a few years before crossing the Alleghany
Mountains to Beaver Co. (both James are listed in the 1800 census of Beaver Co.).
Since James Gorrell is later listed as an elder in the "Old Salem Presbyterian Church", I am pretty
sure the family was Presbyterian. Does anyone have access to any of the old presbyterian church
records for this area and time period? Does anyone know where I can find a marriage record for
James and Sarah? Does anyone know where I can find land records for this time period (so I can
trace James Gorrell (Sr) land in Chartiers)?

Robert KERR b. 1750 and his wife Jemima MORTON came to western PA abt 1773;and settled on land abt 5 /- miles west of the Monongahela River. we now believe that land may have been "Depreciation Land" since he was a PA Ranger, PA Militia, and may have served in the Rev. War from Westmoreland Co. We think the family homestead was near "The old West Burial Ground" as their son is buried there. He died in 1865. This Cem. was connected to St. Paul's Episcopal Church (now long gone). My question: Does anyone have any data on early burials there, and/or tombstone inscriptions there? This cem.is now within Fallowfield Twp. about 3/4 miles SE of Lover, PA, and under the jurisdiction of the Episcopalian Diocese in Charleroi, but they have no records on this early church or the cemetery. We believe the parents are buried here as is several of their children, in un-marked graves. Are there any written accounts of these burials?
