They were the parents of Samuel Martin (1780-1878) of Cannonburgh Pa. Parents of Isabelle Martin(1824-1892)who married Ross Taggart (1815-1892). They probably lived in Service(Beaver Co) where their son James Lieper Taggart (10-2-1855 to 1912)was born.

    Some years ago Dr. Bell sent me information that Jesse Enlow of Hardin Co., KY, Concordia Pr. LA and Wilkinson Co., MS was the son of Abraham & Jemima Elliott Enlow of Washington Co. I see this has been changed. Someone please enlighten me as to why it was changed to Jesse Enlow who married Ann Highfill.     Would greatly appreciate any information that may be provided or any advice in steering
    me toward additional on line or s-mail research sources regarding the following family.
    Andrew Smith brought his wife Rebecca and his children to Knox County, Ohio about 1840.
    His son, Andrew Jr. fought with a Ohio unit in the Civil war and his discharge lists his birthplace as
    as Washington County, Pennsylvania. Other children of Andrew Sr. and Rebecca, per the 1850
    Knox County census, were Rebecca, Elizabeth, Eleazor, Abram and John. All were born in
    Pennsylvania. TheWashington Cty web page contains an "Early Marriage Records from the
    Washington CountyReporter" that lists a July 15 1819 marriage of an Andrew Smith and
    Rebecca Jenkins. I am speculating that that is the Andrew Smith and Rebecca I am looking
    for. The marriage was performed by Rev. Boyd Mercer who, based on the Sommerset
    Township history page,appears to have been pastor of the Pegeion Creek Presbeterian church.
    My objective is to identify birth/baptism records for any of the children or any other records
    that would confirm that I have or do not have the right Andrew and Rebecca. Assuming they
    are the right family, I would like to identify any other records that would lead to Andrew and
    Rebecca's parents, etc.
    I certainly will appreciate any help in this matter, and I would be glad to prvide descendency

    I'm looking for information on my grandfather, Frank Donald Bonner I. According to my father's (Frank Jr.'s) birth certificate, Frank Bonner the first was born in Washington County, PA, sometime in 1896 or 1897. He married Laura Dell (or possibly Bell) of Westmoreland County, PA, most likely sometime between 1914 to 1918, and they moved to Ohio in time for my father Frank Bonner Jr. to be born in Columbiana County, Ohio in 1924. (My father was the third child of the marriage, but I don't have any information on the first two children.)

    I'm looking for information about my Grandmother(BR.abt 1895-1958)who always went by the name Laura Hazel Crothers. She was raised by the Crothers family in Marietta OH. The only information I have is the following letter: "We were living in McDonald when we went to get Hazel. Went to house next to mine. Her father was killed in mine-mother died there. Some lady was caring for several children. Coal mine company was giving them away because of no parents. Mother and I picked Hazel. It was night when we went to get her. I carried the lantern and we walked back across the bridge. We were living in McDonald then. Soon after we moved to Stewart farm just out of McDonald. Grandma & Grandpa John Shawhan, Grandma Shawhan died on Stewart farm. Grandpa died in Marietta. Then from Stewart place we moved back to McDonald. There we lived two squares from William Long. They were friends of the family. Childrens names were William, Joshua and Bessie. We were at Long's when Sheriff came and mother signed paper, then dad signed too."

    Matilda married Robert Mason, b. County Derry, Northern Ireland, immigrated in 1819. They had seven children, two surviving: Samuel R. Mason b. 1827 and William W. Mason b. 1829.
    Matilda may have died in the 1860s, because Robert remarried Esther Dickson (maiden name) Patterson (first husband) in 1868.

    Seeking the names of the parents of William Patterson (1818-1879).
    William married Nancy McCready (daughter of David McCready and granddaughter of
    Robert McCready of Cross Creek Village, Washington County, PA ) about 1838. They
    may have married at Cross Creek Presbyterian Church.
    William Patterson and Nancy McCready Patterson are buried beside Robert Patterson
    (1749-1829) and Elizabeth (Robert's wife and cousin) in St. John's Cemetery on Eldersville Road
    in Brooke County, West Virginia. But I have not determined William's relationship to these
    Pattersons. A David Patterson may be connected. The children of Robert and Elizabeth are
    William, Robert, Sarah, Elizabeth, James and Alexander.
    William Patterson and Nancy McCready Patterson lived for a time in Eldersville, PA before
    purchasing their farms in Brooke County.

    I am hoping someone has some information regarding the ancestry of David Kimble. I am happy to share
    what info I have on this family.
    FACTS:
    I am researching my g g g g grandfather, David Kimble, who married Martha Rose, and had Aaron, b 1802, Nathan, b 1805, both in New Jersey,
    Moses and Mary, b in Ohio in 1813. David emigrated through PA to Ohio, and settled in Fayette County about 1812.
    David died before 1817, as that is when wife Martha re married John Terrel.
    Aaron married Nancy Snodgrass, and left Fayette County in 1832, and emigrated to Parke County, Ind, and then Scotland County, Missouri.
    Nathan married Nancy Burnett, and stayed in Fayette County.
    Moses married Lucy Clifton.
    Mary married John Snodgrass, and emigrated to Scotland County, Missouri.
    SPECULATIONS/POSSIBILITIES.
    There may have been three brothers, David, William, and George.
    There is a George in the Fayette County census for 1820, and a William lived there and moved on to Cass County, Ill.
    They might be related to the Kimbles of New Jersey and Washington County, Pa, who then moved on to settle in Butler, Guernsey, and Adams County Ohio. These are presumably descended from Caleb of Sussex
    County, New Jersey, who had sons Joseph, Leonard, Nathan and John, all in Wash County in 1790.

    Dr. C.C. (Christopher) SMITH, son of ANDREW and JANE CRAIG SMITH was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, April 1, 1825. Jane Craig was born in County Monohon, Ireland in 1790, and immigrated with her parents in 1794 to PA. She died in Ohio, July 23, 1864. Andrew Smith was born in Washington County, PA and died in Ohio, August 31, 1875. His grandfather Smith was from Germany. Andrew Smith and wife were many years in the Assoc. Presby. Church. In their family were six children: Anne, Lydia, C.C. (Christopher, my great great grandfather), Sarah J. (dead), John and Walter. The life of Dr. C.C. Smith has been one of unusual activity from the fact that he has been obliged to fight his own battles in life. His education, liberal as it is, he acquired by his own efforts. His early years were spent in country air and his hands were inured to farm labor. He desired a professional life, and to fit him for this he was resolved first to be well read in general knowledge. He accordingly attended the common schools. He began teaching, which he followed at different times for a number of years. He attended Madison College at Antrim, Ohio, where he completed the course in mathematics, except surveying. He also pursued the Latin language to some extent. In 1848 he began to read medicine with a Dr. Davis. His preceptor dying, he then read with Dr. R.G. Stephenson. After reading more or less for four years he attended medical lectures at Cleveland, Ohio in 1852. He began the practice of medicine in Antrim, his home, first in partnership with his preceptor, but Dr. Stephenson dying Dr. Smith continued his profession alone. In 1856 he located at Viola, Mercer Co., Illinois, remaining two years or little more. He then practiced as long in Preemption. In the fall of 1861 he bought out Dr. Gilmore, of Sunbeam, and has since practiced here. That he has been a successful practitioner is evident from the fact that he now owns seventy-two acres, with good house, etc., as his home place, eighty acres in section 10, and 160 acres in Iowa, all the reward of his practice. During the war the doctor was busy, doing much for the families of soldiers. The wounds he dressed without charge, and thus he did his duty at home. Late years he has circumscribed his practice, on account of overwork. He has been an active worker in temperance work, also a member and an officer in the United Presbyterian Church. He is a very strong republican. His first vote was for John P. Hale. Dr. Smith was married February 22, 1855 to Cordelia, daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Work) Downerd. She was born in Guernsey Co., Ohio. Her father was a German, her mother from county Donegal, Ireland. Dr. Smith has a family of six children living and two dead.

    I am curious as to whether that institution was the same as a high school, or perhaps was
    about equal to a junior college. If anyone out there has an answer, or has general information
    about the school, I would like to hear about it. While studying there in Washington, she met
    her future husband, Silas Alfred Fulton who was at Washington and Jefferson.

    I have been trying for some time to find my Mahaffey family in PA.
    My Mahafey family arrived in PA from Ireland around 1810, stayed there until the 1840's and movred to Ohio, where I find them in the Vinton County, Ohio census.
    My ggg grandfather Cornelius Mahaffey and his wife Rosanna Gallagher arrived from Ireland and settled in PA around 1825-1830. They had 8 children, 7 of whom were born in PA. I have never found them yet in PA and have been looking for aobut 4 years. Their stay in PA is verified by family lore and subsequent census records that tell where the children were born. If I can only find them somewhere in PA. I can explore it further.
    Hopefully you can help. Their 7 Mahaffey children and birth dates are as follows:
    James, born 7-4-1836, may have been born in Ireland (census and subsequent obit differ)
    Patrick, born about 1826, born in PA, althgough may have been born in Ireland (census data differs)
    Mary, born about 1834, born in PA
    John, born about 1840, born inPA
    Charles, born about 1841. born in PA
    Thomas, born August 1846, born in PA
    Elizabeth, born 2-1-1848, born in PA

    I am researching the family of Roza Filipec and John Jandrokovic. They came to US in 1902
    and settled in Elizabeth, Pa. In 1903 they moved to BROWNSVILLE and had their first son in
    December of that year. (Stephen) They operated a grocery store near the wharf and later moved
    it to their home,which was located at 1107 Water St. They had three other sons, John, Peter
    and Frank and also a daughter, Eva Straka. After Roza's death the store was moved to WEST
    BROWNSVILLE.
    John Sr. was very active in the CROATIAN LODGE and held the office of President for 51 years.
    He also did radio broadcasts in CROATIAN on Sunday mornings.
    If anyone can read CROATIAN or has any stories pertaining to my grandparents and other
    relatives I would appreciate hearing from you. I would especially like to find information on
    Steve's children. He was in the Marine Corps and after leaving he moved to SAN FRANCISCO,CA.
    He married and had two children, Marilyn and Steven Jr. We have never seen or met the family
    members and would appreciate any help in locating them.

    I need the parents of my pioneer family of Robert KERR who homesteaded (?) in Fallowfield Twp in 1773-74. Later, that was remade into Pike Run Twp., and eventually became West Pike Run Twp. One of their sons, James Kerr (1787-1865)is buried in the Old West Cemetery (Old West Burial Ground). I suspect several family (parents & siblings)are also buried there, but, there are no markers except for this James. Citizen's Library seems to not have info on this family. Nor does Westmoreland Co., nor does Virginia Archives in Richmond. Was there some newspaper of the times, that may have an obituary about family members,who were still in the area after 1865? - Thanks. Bob Cook (BCDigger@aol.com)
