My ggggrandfather, Thomas LANGFORD, settled near Canonsburg, Washington Co., PA around 1852. He was born near Bath, England. His obituary states that he worked as a landscape gardener, later owned a large farm. By the 1870 census he was living in Allegheny Co. Wife was Prudence SAUNDERS (d. 1907), 5 daughters survived him at his death in 1914: Harriet, Lillie, Fanny, Jennie, and Julia. Has anyone come across Thomas LANGFORD and/or his family?

I am seeking information, especially a date of marriage, for THOMAS and ISABELLA (KERR, KERN) McILYAR, who resided in Washington Co., PA from about 1800 to about 1810. According to their son's obituary & bio in Guernsey Co. Ohio (where the family eventually settled) Thomas and Isabella were married in Washington Co. in 1802. I have yet to find/confirm that date. At the time of their marriage, Thomas was the only one of his family in America (he was from Scotland) and Isabella, who was Irish, had her parents, and at least one brother, James, who was captured by Indians, but later escaped. Her father was said to have been murdered by the Indians at the same time. I have a fair amount of information on Thomas and Isabella's children, just nothing on back, so any information would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to locate David Miller family in later half of 1700's. David came from Germany as a 16 yr. old in 1756/9 and landed in "New York or nearby" (according to family history written by his grandson in 1922). On same boat was Debora Zook (d/o Peter Zook). They married and settled somewhere in Pa. (could have spent some time in NY).....some clues indicate Washington/Green Co. area. They migrated to Nelson Co., Ky. by 1797 and moved on to nearby Washington Co., Ky. after a couple years. They raised 12 children in Ky.---Cathy (b. abt 1780 in Pa.), Samuel (b. 1783 in Pa.), Lewis (b. 1791 in Pa.), Betsy (b. 1794 in Pa.), Jacob (b. Pa. ?), Mary M., Rachael, John, David (b. 1799 in Ky.), and three unidentified. I do find two David Miller families listed in 1790 census for Washington Co., Pa.---each with four children. I just phoned the Washington Co. Court House, Register of Wills to inquire the cost to obtain copy of WILL. I'd previously wrote to Diane Myers (a LOOKUP Volunteer) and she was very kind and helpful to this newbie! She provided address and phone nmbr for courthouse and cost of LDS film...all in a matter of 1 hr. The cost of a "research" (even if you know the book etc) is $10 per will. LDS is only $3 per film. Just thought you all might enjoy this information and know how grateful I am to Diane and all the other volumteers. I am trying to locate information on my fathers family Macheski. The name was originally Maciejewski. His mothers name was either Piotrowski or Poplosky. I am looking for information on the family of John Thomas and Jean MCCALL (YOUNG). John Thomas is said to have come from near Glasgow Scotland in 1755 and settled 15 miles up the Schuylkill River, but I have found referrences to them being in Chanceford, York County, PA by 1756. They had children John (b. 2-23-1765, married Sara White), Alexander (b. 10- 19-1769, married Margaret Fergus), Mathew (b. 8-17-1773 or 7/2/1774?), Thomas, William, James, Agnes (b. 5/11/1777, married ? GRAY), and Elizabeth (married John TRIMBLE, who is said to have died in the Revolution). They moved to Washington County in 1787. They were Presbytarian, as Mathew and Agnes were baptized at the Guisnton (Muddy Creek) Presbytarian Church on 7/31/1774 and 5/18/1777, respectively. It is possible that John Thomas had a brother William MCCALL with him, and I have found a referrence to a Margaret MCCALL marrying a John TURNBULL of "Martick" in John Thomas & Jean's home on 4-15- 1776. When they moved to Washington County, they settled in Chartier's township. I am looking for any info on Frank Ostrog(Ostro,Ostruh,Ostrok,Austia) who came to the town Of Rachiff, Pa. That is the name of the town back in the 1898-1906 time frame.He was employed by a coal mining company in the surrounding Latrobe area. My father was born in Latrobe in 1907. His name is Frank Ostruh,he changed the spelling of the last name. I need to know the names and addresses of the coal companies at that time. Also names of churches in Latrobe all denominations. I am trying to find some kind of paper trail for him. Can anyone help?

WILLIAM marries ELIZABETH JOHNSON, and they have: JAMES, SAMUEL, ROBERT, HENRY, 2 unnamed females, WILLIAM & THOMAS. SAMUEL marries ELIZABETH BLAYNER/BLANEY, and their children are LOUISA(RUSSELL), WILLIAM B., SAMUEL, JOHNSON, REUBEN, ROBERT (ELMIRA AMMON) SAMUEL last noted in 1830 census in Franklin Township, and living with him is probably his widowed mother, MARY. Same in 1840 census, but MARY no longer shown.
