PLEASE NOTE: This wonderful service was set up many years
ago. However, it has not functioned for
some time. It is conceivably possible that it could be fixed, but I
understand it requires very customized PERL scripting, and additional
understanding in how we set our software to copy the obituaries.
If visitors to this website are interested in
supporting the programming efforts to restore this functionality, either by
donating their skills or making monetary donations to hire someone to do so, I
would be interested in hearing from you. Please email

General complaints that you do not like the fact that
technology changes, or that a complicated software program (such as reaching
into another website to archive materials) needs additional programming to
continue are understood but are difficult to respond to. Also note, we had the
Observer-Reporter's permission to archive the obituaries. We don't just archive
any website.
Observer-Reporter Obituary Archive
With permission from the Observer Publishing Co. of Washington, PA, this
site is archiving obituaries appearing in the on-line edition of the Washington
Observer-Reporter.
The obituaries are automatically copied each day via software, not manually.
Obituaries are missing from the archives for some days due to the copying
software not working properly.
Obituaries are available starting August 10, 1997.
