Blanche Louise Shipley Phillians, 85, of Clarksville, died Thursday, December 11, 1997, in Monongahela Valley Hospital following a brief illness. She was a graduate of Brownsville High School and spent her early years in the Brownsville area where she worked as a clerk at Kaufmann's and was once employed as a clerk at the Millsboro Post Office. Mrs. Phillips lived in Clarksville since 1956 and also lived for four years in Bentleyville. She was a member of Hewitt Presbyterian Church of Rices Landing, the Order of the Amaranths in Brownsville and the former Millsboro Women's Civic Club. She enjoyed sewing and baking bread. On June 11, 1938, in Hagerstown, Md., she married George H. Phillians, who died March 3, 1980. Surviving are a daughter, Roberta Lee Ross of Clarksville, with whom she made her home; four granddaughters, Randi Ross Marodi, Kelly, Morgan and Taylor Ross; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Marodi; and three nieces.
