Word has been received on the death of Charles Cox, 71, of Ocoee, Fla., formerly of Waynesburg, who died Wednesday, December 3, 1997. In 1944, Mr. Cox joined the U.S. Navy for two years during World War II before joining the Air Force in 1949, serving as a radio operator during the Korean War. After moving to Florida in 1959, he was employed by General Dynamics, a NASA contractor, working on the Mercury and Apollo space programs in Cape Canaveral, Fla., and later worked at General Electric and Martin Marietta in Orlando, before retiring as a supervisor. Following retirement, he was coordinator for the Civil Air Patrol's search and rescue operations in Florida. Surviving are his wife, Glenna Cox, who he married in 1953; two sons, Michael of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, and Patrick of Ocoee, Fla.; a daughter, Debi Kravis of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and a sister, Dolly Krohn of Daytona Beach, Fla.
