Wilford G. Gray, 72, of Wind Ridge R.D.1, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 1997, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg. Mr. Gray was a chief engineer for Columbia Gas Transmission Corp. for 34 years until his retirement in 1988. While there, he had been a member of the Columbia Gas Quarter Century Club. During his career, he had lived in several areas of Pennsylvania but returned to Richhill Township after retiring. Mr. Gray, a veteran of World War II, served as a corporal with the U.S. Army in Company A, 142nd Infantry, 36th Division. He was a former member of Cameron (W.Va.) Christian Church and Aleppo Brethren Church, and, most recently, was a member of Sugar Grove Union Bible Church, McCracken. Mr. Gray was a former commander and 52-year member of American Legion Post. 18 in Cameron. Surviving is his wife, Ruth Virginia Tallman Gray, whom he married March 22, 1947. Also surviving are two daughters, Gwen K. Wendell of Wind Ridge and Tammy Forrester of Oakland, Md.; and three grandchildren, Chad Wendell, Kendra Wendell and Austin Forrester. Deceased are two brothers, Jesse L. Gray Jr. and Wiley Gray; and two sisters, Grace Hart and Ethel Minnear. Mr. Gray was the last of his immediate family. At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or public services. Sunday's church service at Sugar Grove Union Bible Church will be dedicated to his memory.
