Fred Philip "Chicken" Gizoni, 79, of Wellington Avenue, Washington, died Monday, November 3, 1997, in his home. Mr. Gizoni attended St. Hilary Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Homestead Steel. He had previously been employed by Albert's Packing Co. as a meat cutter. He attended South Fayette schools. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater, receiving the American Theater Service Ribbon, American Defense Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Defense Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Unit Award. He was an avid racing fan and enjoyed races at The Meadows. Surviving are four brothers, Joe Gizoni of El Chaon, Calif., Earnest Gizoni of San Diego, Calif., Anthony "Babe" Gizoni of Troy, Mich., and Jack Gizoni of Carnegie; two sisters, Jean Zaccarino of Cecil and Yolanda Spino of Washington; several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Louis Gizoni, John Gizoni, Italo Gizoni and Victor Gizoni; three sisters, Ann Rose Chick, Alma Wincheck and Alice Richardson. Copyright ©1997 Observer Publishing Co.
