John M. Garry Sr.

Constable for Union Township for 20 years

John M. (Jack) Garry Sr., 71, of Finleyville, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born December 21, 1926, in Gastonville, a son of Michael F. and Edna Foster Garry Sr.

Mr. Garry was retired from Equitable Gas Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater of operation.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church of Finleyville, was a life member and past president of Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Washington County Firemen's Association.

He was also a member and past governor of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 172 of Finleyville, the Western Pennsylvania Moose Legion 1, where he was also conferred the fellowship degree in the lodge, a member of American Legion Post 613 of Finleyville, and the SNPJ Lodge 90 of Hackett.

Mr. Garry was currently serving as a constable for Union Township, a position he held for more than 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Stella E. Malachosky Garry; a son, John M. Garry Jr. of Mt. Lebanon; three daughters, Patricia Crimm of New Eagle, Judith Ann Snyder of Elizabeth and Jaquelin Berestecky of Irwin; two brothers, Michael F. Garry Jr. of Nokomis, Fla., and James E. Garry of Monongahela; two sisters, Edna P. Russell and Bertha M. Leach, both of Finleyville; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
