Mary Ellen Powell, 22, of Washington, formerly of Eighty Four, died 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1998, following a lengthy illness. Miss Powell was a 1993 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and had attended the Sawyer School of Pittsburgh. She was a gardener, camper, enjoyed fishing and was a fan of the late Jerry Garcia, lead singer for The Grateful Dead. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her maternal grandfather, Marvin E. Willard of Washington; a brother, Marvin D. Powell of West Alexander; two sisters, Charitey Powell of Canonsburg, and Amanda M.
