Leo N. Skemp Jr., 85, of Bridgeville, formerly of Uniontown, died Monday, March 30, 1998. Mr. Skemp had spent most of his life in Uniontown and the past 18 years in Bridgeville, where he was an active member of Lakeview Christian Life Church. He enjoyed volunteer work at the Christian school. He was a 1934 graduate of Penn State University and until his retirement was employed as an engineer for U.S. Steel Corp. Mr. Skemp was involved in the Presbyterian Church and Rotary during the 1950s and '60s, and held the position of mediator of Redstone Presbytery in 1955. He was active for many years in Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award. On January 22, 1938, he married Virginia Tipton, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Karen S. Wright of Lutherville, Md., Katherine L. Beckes of Elyeria, Ohio and Mary S. Hartman of McMurray; one brother, Thomas L. Skemp of Scottdale; one sister, Dorothy Cox of Scottdale; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, J.D. Skemp and James Skemp.
