Alexander Joseph Rozsas, 76, of Yakima, Wash., formerly of Park Avenue, Canonsburg, died April 1, 1998, at Chinook Convalescent Center. He had been in failing health for several months suffering from cancer.

He was born January 9, 1922, in Canonsburg, a son of Alexander and Theresa Balent Rozsas.
Mr. Rozsas attended Canonsburg schools and served two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in the states of Virginia and Washington.
During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served four years as a drill sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a long-haul truck driver.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline of Yakima; a daughter, Arlinda Walker of Yakima; a son Steven of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, John Rozsas of Canonsburg; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his stepmother; three sisters, Theresa, Helen and Mary; and a brother, Joseph.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Yakima. Interment was in West Hills Memorial Park. Full military honors were provided by William Wharton VFW Post 379.
