Ruth P. Gordon, 79, of Charleroi, formerly of Bentleyville, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Mon Valley Hospital. Mrs. Gordon was Protestant and a 1937 graduate of the Ellsworth-Cokeburg High School. She was very active with the Bentworth PTA and for a number of years was a leader for the Girls Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania and also a leader of Girl Scouts in Bentleyville. Surviving are three daughters, Susan Joyce Gordon of Mars, Sally Jo Gordon of Washington, and Sherry Jane Baciak of Charleroi; a sister, Bernice Shazer of Uniontown; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; Deceased are her first husband, Stanley Ames, who died in 1943, and her second husband, Joseph P. Gordon, in 1990; two daughters, Julie Ann Gordon in 1951, and Beverly Ames Warner in 1965; three brothers, George, Joseph and Earnest Lucy; four sisters, Rhetta Lucy, Phoebe Crawford, Frances Epling and Ethel Monk.
