Lyman M. Livengood, 71, of West Finley, formerly of Greensboro, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, 1998, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness. Mr. Livengood lived most of his life in Greensboro and the past year in West Finley. He was a graduate of Waynesburg College and received a master's degree in social work from West Virginia University. Mr. Livengood served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation from 1957 to 1961, and then worked for Greene County Assistance Office, where he became executive director in 1991. Mr. Livengood was actively involved in community service. He coached Little League baseball in Greensboro for many years and served for six years on the Catholic Charities Community Advisory Committee. He was an original member of Greene County Human Services Committee and had served on the Family Abuse Council. He was a current board member and past president of Cornerstone Care and Greene County Health and Welfare Coordinating Council, receiving their Gold Key Award in 1990. He was a current board member of Washington-Greene Community Action Southwest and Greene County United Way, where he contributed on the pioneer level for many years. He was active in the Waynesburg Rotary Club and received a Paul Harris Fellow award in 1996 and was chairman of the Adopt a Highway service committee. Surviving are five children, Shelley Davis of West Finley, with whom he made his home, Linda Bongiorno of Charleston, S.C., Jacqueline Smith of Greensboro, Roger L. Livengood of Carmichaels and Kevin Livengood of Nineveh; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Patricia Morris Wilson of Dilliner.
