Violet Oliver Barkand, 81, of Upper St. Clair Township, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at St. Clair Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Barkand was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Bridgeville. On January 1, 1934, she married Otto Barkand, who died in July of 1997. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in 1994. Mrs. Barkand graduated from high school in Ashtabula and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Gayle Bowles of Coraopolis and Eileen Kennedy of Oakdale; one sister, Dorothy Sasson of Bridgeville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
