Audrey Myra Briggs, 86, of Henderson Road, Washington, died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 1998, in Washington County Health Center, following an eight-month illness. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Briggs was a member of Chartiers Crossroads Presbyterian Church, the church's Mary Stewart Missionary Society, and a former deacon of the church. She also was a member of Hickory Women's Club. She was a 1931 graduate of Hickory High School. On April 11, 1936, she married Samuel David Briggs, who died November 28, 1978. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Faye McClure of Washington; two sisters, Martha Wiley of Washington and Helen Giosta of Houston; two grandchildren, Lora Lea Cowden and Ronald Schaub; and two great-grandchildren. Deceased are five brothers, Mack, Roy, David, Walter and Clyde Wilson; and two sisters, Margaret Wilson and Vernice Melvin.
