Dorothy L. Earnest, 77, of Tallmadge, Ohio, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, following a two-year battle with cancer. In 1942, she moved with her family from Pennsylvania to Akron, Ohio. She had lived in Tallmadge since 1984. Mrs. Earnest was well known in real estate, working 45 years in offices and sales. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Akron Area Board of Realtors Women's Council and a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club. She retired in 1997 from sales. She was a charter member of Cornerstone Community Church and a member of Cuyahoga Falls Commandery No. 82 and Tallmadge AARP. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Row of Stow, Ohio; a son, Gary L. Earnest of Stow; six grandchildren, Kimberly Williams, Lynn Ratchford, Lori Brooker, Norton Reed Earnest III, Gary L. Earnest II and David Earnest; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert G. Irey of Cuyahoga Falls; two sisters, Ionabell Montgomery and Thelma Montgomery, both of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are her husband of 52 years, Norton Reed Earnest I, who died in 1988; and a son, Norton Reed Earnest II, who died in 1996.
