Michael Ralph Peel, 37, of Manassas, Va., formerly of Washington, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, in Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, Md., following a 20-year battle with kidney disease. He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church of Washington. He was a graduate of Trinity High School, Washington, and a 1984 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a degree in electrical engineering. Following graduation, Mr. Peel worked for IBM as an associate engineer. In 1987, he was promoted to senior associate engineer. In 1989, he became staff engineer/senior associate engineer. In 1992, he became a staff engineer for Loral Federal Systems, IBM, in Manassas. From 1995 until January 1997, he worked as a consultant for Quality & Systems Software Inc. In 1997, he became a senior software engineer for America-On-Line in Reston, Va. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a sister, Linda Sue Peel of Pittsburgh; his maternal grandfather, Ralph Manes of Washington; an aunt, Nancy Walker of Washington; and several cousins.
