Opal M. Michaels, 74, of Okeechobee, Fla., died Monday, April 20, 1998, in Columbia Raulerson Hospital. Mrs. Michaels was a seasonal resident of Okeechobee since 1986 and became a permanent resident in 1995. She had been a resident of Washington for 27 years. A good athlete who appeared in six national basketball championships and in three national softball championships, she received an outstanding female athlete award from Ohio State University. She also was a secretary, store manager and homemaker. Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Dr. Adlai E. Michaels; a son, Michael J. Pavisich of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, Michael E. and Debra L. Pavisich; and two sisters, Beulah Justus and Sylia Kintigh, both of Beverly Hills, Fla.
