Hugh W. Wright, 70, of Short Street, Bentleyville, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at home.

He was born November 30, 1927, in Vanceville, a son of William and Mary Weir Wright.
Mr. Wright was a 1945 graduate of Bentleyville High School.
In June, 1987, he retired from Mathies Mine, New Eagle, where he worked as foreman at the corporation plant.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Japan during the end of World War II.
Mr. Wright was a member of First Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 165, both of Bentleyville.
On June 17, 1949, he married Eleanor Haddad Wright, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Barry H. and Brad A. Wright, both of Bentleyville; a daughter, Lynn Pompei of Bentleyville, six grandchildren, Jae, Brian and Jeffrey Wright, and Tammy, Tyrone and Taylor Pompei; two sisters, Eoline McElroy and Maxine Wilson, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Samuel, Walter and Ralph Wright; and three sisters, Virginia Moore, Adelaide Baker and Dorothy Wright.
