James M. Walker, 74, of Jefferson R.D. 1, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at the Oakland Veterans Hospital, Pittsburgh. On October 6, 1954, he married Clare Ethel Everly, who died November 7, 1993. Mr. Walker was employed as a railroad worker, a postal worker and had, at one time, worked as a constable in West Virginia. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a life member of both the American Legion Post No. 400, Carmichaels, and Disabled American Veterans No. 123, Waynesburg. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Birt of Chenango Forks, N.Y., and Mary Theresa Vorhees of Sloansville, N.Y.; a foster son, Rocky Serbaugh of Morgantown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruby Main of Rogersville, Elizabeth Davis of Jefferson, Marjorie Six of Lawrenceville and Yvonna McGlone of Waynesburg; two brothers, Donald Walker of Carmichaels and Ira Walker of Lancaster, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
