Peter Rusin Sr., 81, of Monongahela, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, in Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Mr. Rusin was a member of St. Anthony Church in Monongahela, where he served as an usher for more than 20 years and was a member of the morning Mass group. He was a crossing guard for CCD classes and was active in St. Anthony's blood drives. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Rev. Edwin L. Kaczmarek Council 2600, where he held the rank of third-degree knight, and since 1961 was a member of St. Vincent de Paul, where he served as treasurer at the time of his death. Mr. Rusin retired from Combustion Engineering in East Monongahela and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Frank Downer American Legion Post 302 of Monongahela and was active with Meals on Wheels in Monongahela. Surviving is his wife, Anna Mehalak Rusin, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on January 18, 1998. Also surviving are two sons, Peter Jr. of Edison, N.J., and John Rusin of Damascus, Ark.; two daughters, Elizabeth Safran of Forward Township, Monongahela, and Selina Yarosh of Canonsburg; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Michael of Mount Eagle, Tenn., and Andrew Rusin of McKeesport.
