Wayne Robert "Butch" Kuhns, 55, of Claysville, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 1998, in Oakland V.A. Hospital, following a two-month illness. Mr. Kuhns was Apostolic. He was the owner of Kuhns Fencing Co. Mr. Kuhns attended McGuffey schools and served in the U.S. Marines. He was a member and past president of Washington Flyers Club and a member and past president of Washington Chess Club. On February 4, 1966, he married Janet Marie Hall, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Wendy R. Grandel of Washington and Julie A. Kuhns of Claysville; four brothers, James J. Kuhns Triadelphia, W.Va., the Rev. Richard E. Kuhns of Columbia Station, Ohio, Charles H. Kuhns of Scio, Ohio, and Layne G. Kuhns of Elyria, Ohio; a stepbrother, James Scott of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Nancy M. Lackey of Ocala, Fla.; a granddaughter, Morgan R. Grandel; and his stepmother, Viola Scott Kuhns of Ocala, Fla. He was born March 2, 1943, in McKeesport, a son of Robert W. Kuhns of Ocala, Fla., and the late Nancy M. Bedell Kuhns.
