Joseph J. Tomecsko Sr., 81, of 139 1/2 North Central Avenue, Canonsburg, died Tuesday, August 11, 1998, in Allegheny University Hospitals/Canonsburg. Mr. Tomecsko was a lifelong resident of Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Genevieve Worship Site of St. Patrick Parish. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Fort Pitt Bridge Works as a chain man. Mr. Tomecsko was a member of Jednota Lodge and enjoyed bowling. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Hawaii during World War II. On August 24, 1946, he married Genevieve "Jean" Kulakowski Tomecsko, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Joseph J. Tomecsko Jr. of Houston and Michael D. Tomecsko of Canonsburg; a daughter, Susan E. Tomecsko at home; three grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer and Jonathan Tomecsko; and several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. Deceased are two brothers, Stephen and Louis Tomecsko; and three sisters, Anna Hluhany, Mary Yarkosky and Margaret Biczak.
