Elizabeth Place Brown Taylor, 95, of Monongahela, died Friday, August 14, 1998, in Haven Crest Nursing Home, Carroll Township. In 1924, following graduation from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., she accepted a high school teaching position in Burgettstown. She later moved to Jeannette. Mrs. Taylor spent most of her life in Monongahela, where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years, a member of a number of historically oriented organizations and held several leadership positions in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as national vice chairman of DAR Friends of the Museum, state historian of the Pennsylvania State Chapter from 1960-1963 and regent of the Monongahela Valley Chapter of the DAR from 1954-1956. She also was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, the National Society of Daughters of American Colonists and the United States Daughters of 1812. She was a member of the Magic City (Monongahela) and Washington County bridge clubs and attained life master status in the American Contract Bridge League in 1973. She also was involved with Washington County Federation of Women's Clubs and Wheatland Baptist Cemetery Association. In 1928, at the Brown family home in Shortsville, N.Y., she married Olaf C. Taylor, who died April 18, 1996. The couple had celebrated 68 years of marriage. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Robert B. Taylor of Portland, Ore., and Richard C. Taylor of Vero Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Diana Taylor Root, Sharon Taylor Oliverio, Richard Clair Taylor and Tara Elizabeth Taylor; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Brown Deguire of Venice, Fla.
