Charles William Dalton, 76, of Beech Street, Washington, died at 3:58 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 1998, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Dalton was last employed as a driver for Dr. E. Ronald Salvitti. He had previously been employed as an air traffic controller at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport and as a foreman in the Tidewater oil fields. He held his private pilot's license for many years and was a 1939 graduate of Claysville High School. Mr. Dalton served in the U.S. Army during World War II in London, England, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was a member of the Taylorstown American Legion post. In London, England, he married Eileen Kiley, who died March 30, 1978. He later married Frances Jasinski, who is also deceased. Surviving are a daughter, Laura Chick of West Hartford, Conn.; two sisters, Mary Ann Ashmore of Washington and Lois Jean Marrazzo of Orland, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Lisa McCartney.
