John S. Monar, 87, formerly of 160 Valley Road, Canonsburg, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, in Allegheny Valley Hospital. Mr. Monar was a retired employee of Penn Central Railroad and a member of First United Methodist Church of Canonsburg. He also was a member of Canon Lodge 204 Knights of Pythias. On June 20, 1941, he married Arminta Mae Hotchkiss, who died June 21, 1990. Surviving are one son, James B. Monar of Roanoke, Va.; five brothers, William Molnar of Valencia, Albert and Alex Molnar, both of Gibsonia, Robert Molnar of Florence, S.C., and Gabert Molnar of Sumter, S.C.; two sisters, Edith Breakiron of Morgantown, W.Va., and Bertha Davis of Loveland, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Sharon, Joy and Stephen Monar.
