Irene W. Burgess, 81, of Waynesburg R.D.4, died Tuesday, August 18, 1998, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness. Mrs. Burgess resided most of her life in Waynesburg, where she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was also a member of AARP. She performed janitorial work for several businesses and offices in Waynesburg and worked several years for Servicemaster and Gallatin Bank. On March 9, 1939, she married John W. Burgess, who died May 15, 1982. Surviving are three sons, Chester S. Burgess of York, Charles Edward Burgess of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Joseph Leroy Burgess of Waynesburg; three grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Chastity and James D. Burgess; and three great-grandchildren.
