Ruth Marsteller Sprague, 81, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, August 19, 1998, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Mrs. Sprague was a 1935 graduate of Bentleyville High School and received her master's degree of education from California University of Pennsylvania. She was a schoolteacher for 21 years for Bentleyville schools and later in Charleroi School District. Mrs. Sprague was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Scenery Hill, where she was a past Sunday school superintendent, a Synod delegate and member of Ladies Aid. She was a member of Bentleyville Public Library Board of Trustees, and a past president of Bentleyville Lioness Club, where she served as past president and was on the board of directors. She also was past president of Bentleyville Pioneer Club. Mrs. Sprague also was a member of Gideons Washington East Chapter and once served as auxiliary president. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star Monongahela Chapter 108, and was a life member of the Washington County Retired Public School Employees Association. On February 12, 1943, at First Presbyterian Church of Bentleyville, she married Luther Samuel Sprague, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Vivian S. Bauer of Scenery Hill and Elizabeth R. Dionne of Troy, N.C.; a son, Timothy P. Sprague of St. Louis Park, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Weir of Bentleyville, and Maxine Kelly of Largo, Fla.; a brother, Boyd Marsteller of Bentleyville; and several nieces and nephews.
