Joseph Furlong, 90, of Finleyville, died Thursday, August 20, 1998, in Havencrest Nursing Center, Monongahela. Mr. Furlong lived all his life in the Finleyville area, where he was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Finleyville. He formerly worked as a millwright for U.S. Steel and was a life member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics. He was a life member of BPOE of Monongahela, a member of LOOM 174 of Finleyville, F&AM Lodge 526 of Elizabeth, the Pittsburgh Consistory Syria Temple of the Shrine and Al-O-Mon Forest 138 Tall Cedars of Lebanon. His wife, Margaret Neill, died December 24, 1987. Surviving are a son, J. Donald Furlong of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Sara Temple Furlong of Finleyville; a sister, Emma Mood of Smithfield; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
