John R. Smith, 90, of Fourth Avenue, New Eagle, died Friday, August 28, 1998, in Mon Valley Hospital. Mr. Smith was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in New Eagle. He was a retired foreman for Combustion Engineering, with 50 years of service. On September 6, 1941, he married Devida Trumpie Smith, with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage in 1997. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Shirley Wolfe and Karen Mountain, both of New Eagle; four grandchildren, Vickie Wolfe Polaski, John Mountain, Saundra Mountain Bobnar and Eric Wolfe; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James Smith of New Eagle; and two sisters, Margaret McGinty and Susan Mucci, both of New Eagle.
