Frances Hamlin, 83, of Pineville, W.Va., died Sunday, August 2, 1998, in a Beckley, W.Va., hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Hamlin was a retired school teacher from Pineville High School, where she was a sponsor for the Tri-Hi-Y Club. She was a graduate of Marshall University, a member of the Pineville Homemakers and past member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hamlin was a charter member and elder of the Pineville Presbyterian Church and was a 50-year resident of Pineville. Surviving are two sons, Douglas Ray Hamlin of Washington and Kenley Hamlin of Pineville; five grandchildren, Kenley Hamlin II, Lloyd Hamlin, Mary Beth Hamlin, Shawn Hamlin and Brian Hamlin; and one great-granddaughter. Deceased are her husband, Doug Hamlin, who died April 6, 1998; an infant son; an infant granddaughter; a sister, Lena Allen; and a brother, Ernest Allen. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, at the Pineville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Barbara Ann Hedin officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
