Violette B. Lewis, 85, of Finleyville, died Saturday, August 1, 1998, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Miss Lewis worked at McConnaughey's Grocery Store in Venetia for many years until it closed with an auction in 1983. She was a member of Wright's United Methodist Church of Venetia and a member of AARP. Surviving are a brother, Dwight L. Lewis Sr. of Finleyville; a sister, Ruth Shipley of Baltimore, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Benjamin, Thomas and Allen Lewis; and a sister, Leah Kernen.
