James Magnetta, 64, of Pinellas Park, Fla., died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Virginia Medical Center at Bay Pines, Fla. Mr. Magnetta was an entertainer in Florida and the band leader of Better Than Ever, performing at the former Sand Dollar Restaurant, St. Petersburg, and at locations in Sun City Center. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are a son, James of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Cerise Cruz of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Marie Donahue of Palm Harbor, Fla.; a brother, Michael Magnetta of Washington; a sister, Rita Brock of Clinton Township, Mich.; and six grandchildren.
