Sylvester Edward Vrabel, 74, of Steubenville, Ohio, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, December 10, 1998, in Lancia Villa Royale, Steubenville, following a lengthy illness. He was a retired brakeman for the former B&O Railroad and later the Chessie System. Mr. Vrabel was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a radar operator in the Philippines. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves after 25 years of service. Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Ann McCullough of Marianna; a sister, Dolly Stock of Washington; a brother, Edward Michael Vrabel of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a granddaughter. A blessing service and entombment in St. James Mausoleum of Immaculate Conception Cemetery were held privately and at the convenience of the family.
