Pete Semonick, 76, of Waynesburg R.D.1, died at 2:03 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 1998, in his home. He graduated from Redstone Township High School and was a resident of Isabella before moving to Waynesburg in 1991. Mr. Semonick was a retired coal miner from the Mathies Coal Co./National Mines. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II on the USS Carol DE171 destroyer and USS Shangrala aircraft. Mr. Semonick was a member of UMWA Local 2244 and National Slovak Society Lodge 133. He was Catholic. On July 6, 1948, he married Mary Jane Garkovich Semonick, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Melanie Semonick Dufalla of Waynesburg, Dianna Semonick Maglas of Filbert, Cheryl Semonick Chedester of Waynesburg and Karla Semonick of Smock; a son, Richard Semonick of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Kenny Dufalla, David Dufalla, Carlo Maglas, Erik Maglas and Tara Chedester; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Elizabeth Semonick Taylor of Tower Hill 2. Deceased are three sisters, Mary Semonick Kurishko, Susanna Semonick Ference and Margaret Semonick; and four brothers, John Semonick, George Semonick, Andrew Semonick and Steve Semonick.
