David Eugene Hamilton, 69, of 75 Mesta Drive, Washington, died Sunday, November 29, 1998, in Allegheny University Hospitals - Canonsburg. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hamilton was employed as a health officer for 18 years by the state of New Jersey and was past president of Monmouth County Health Officers Association. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years' service, and was a veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. His military awards include Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Combat "V", Korean Service with four bronze stars and FMF Combat Insignia, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Expedition Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, Good Conduct with four stars and U.N. Medal. Mr. Hamilton was a longtime member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and Post 7496 of Felicity, Ohio, a member of American Legion Post 288 of Williamsburg, Ohio, and Marine Corps League, Tri-State Detachment of Youngstown, Ohio. Surviving are two sons, Charles D. Hamilton of Saxe, Va., and Shawn Patrick Hamilton of Farmville, Va.; two daughters, Lani Michelle Foukarakis of Toms River, N.J., and Celeste Fertitta of Edgewood, Fla.; a sister, Nancy Woodal of Houston, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
