Iva G. Porter, 91 of Newville, formerly of Washington and East Millsboro, died Friday, December 18, 1998, in Swaim Health Care Center, Newville. Mrs. Porter was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Newville and a former member of Faith United Presbyterian Church of Washington and Hopewell Presbyterian Church of Brownsville. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Swaim Golden Age and a co-sponsor of the first blood bank and Red Cross in Brownsville. Mrs. Porter was a 1929 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania and had worked as an elementary school reading specialist. Surviving are a niece, Peggy Hays Nelson of Washington; and several other nieces and nephews. Deceased are her husband, Howard R. Porter; a brother, Robert S. Goe; and a sister, Margaret Goe Hays.
